Brinklow 5 (Hilton7, Kennedy 11, Edwards 19, 31,Whitehouse 27) Leamington Hibernian Thistles 1
Bedworth Nursing Cup Final (Under 12’s)
Brinklow’s young guns brought the silverware home with an emphatic victory. Any cup final nerves were swiftly allayed after seven minutes when Jack Hilton pounced upon a cross and slotted the ball past the Hibs keeper. Four minutes later further evidence of Brinklow’s settling into the game the better of the two teams was provided. A perfectly flighted corner was supplied, by Jack Edwards, for Luke Kennedy to rise above the Hibs defence to apply a text-book perfect header to double the lead. Brinklow were now very much the dominant side and were having the vast majority of the play and it came as no surprise when they added a third on 19 minutes. Jack Edwards converted a Todd Loveitt’s free kick with a deft header. Leamington hit back on 25 minutes with a goal on the break and completely against the run of play. Any thoughts of a Hibs revival were put aside when Cameron Whitehouse volleyed home from close range two minutes later. The seemingly unplayable Jack Edwards effectively put the game to bed in the first minute of the second-half running on to a through ball and slipped it past the keeper. Ollie Parker in the Brinklow goal was called into action soon after to deny Hibs on 37 minutes. Brinklow continued to play their football but could not add to their tally and held any threat Hibs showed at bay to claim an historic victory. No Brinklow Junior team has ever won this trophy before.
