Brinklow progressed to the second round of the Stan Aulds Cup with a victory over old rivals Woodlands. The game was a well - balanced affair for the first half, with neither side dominating. The game’s pivotal moment occurred on 55 minutes when a Woodlands defender was red carded for a deliberate hand ball in the penalty area leaving Alex Platt to score from the resulting spot- kick. Josh Banton provided a cross for Reece Blackmore, who shot from just outside the area to make it two – nil. George Cashmore was twice called upon in the final minutes making full – length saves to keep a clean sheet. Ollie Chater despatched a second Brinklow penalty in added time, after he was brought down in the box.
