Brinklow 4 (Gordon 14, Platt (pen) 31, Rickhuss 34, 47) – Kenilworth Wardens 0
Brinklow found their way back to winning ways with a clinical win over premiership
new boys, Kenilworth. Brinklow started strongly and took the lead after 14 minutes
when Jayden Rickhuss set up Andrew Gordon who lobbed the ball over the visitors
keeper from the edge of the area. The home side increased their lead on 31 minutes
when Rickhuss was upended in the area leaving Alex Platt to score from the penalty spot.
Brinklow increased their lead three up three minutes when the visiting keeper was only
able to parry a shot from Ryan Byrne to the feet of the incoming Rickhuss.
The game was wrapped up two minutes after the interval when Rickhuss seized upon a loose ball in the visitors penalty area, held off a defender and turned to shoot home from the edge of the six yard box. Brinklow almost made it five – nil five minutes from the end when an Andrew Gordon shot hit the underside of the bar and bounced out to Liam Cawley whose header flew marginally too high.
