Brinklow were left to rue missed opportunities as they were held by Sphinx in a lively encounter.The visitors’ keeper was called into action, after four minutes making a great save from a goal-bound Liam Cawley free kick. Both Ryan Byrne and Carl Laws came close to breaking the deadlock before Brinklow took the lead with a 25 yard thunderbolt from Alex Platt on the half hour. Brinklow had the ball in the net on 40 minutes, only for Ollie Chater’s effort to be ruled offside. The second half saw Brinklow in the ascendency, but unable to convert their dominance into goals. The dismissal of a Sphinx player on 76 minutes galvanised the visitors, who forced an equaliser with ten minutes remaining. Brinklow pressed for a winner, but were thwarted by the visiting keeper as Sphinx held on to gain a point.
