Message from the Chairman
Well that's another Brinklow 6-a-side tournament over and done with, and what a weekend it was. Yet again we have been blessed by glorious weather, which certainly helps the attendance of supporters and residents of the village. The standard of football was first class and every age group produced really close competitive matches played in a wonderful spirit. Congratulations to the Under 7, 8, 9, 14 and 15's who were all runners up and to our only Champions, the Under 10's, all were fantastic performances. I am sure that all of the Managers of all our teams are very proud of their players including those who did not manage to get into a final. I would like to personally thank and pay tribute to every player and manager for the manner in which you represented our Club.

Of course the organisation of the tournament has to be right and to do that we need many hands, both before the weekend, and then during every session. I cannot say how grateful I am for the fantastic contribution made by these people, which has again earned the Club high praise from our guests. I feel very proud when Managers or Supporters of the other Clubs come to me at the end of their day and congratulate the Club for providing such a high quality and well run weekend. So to everybody who helped, the referees, scorers, tea sellers, bar staff, barbequer's, raffle ticket sellers, car parkers and programmes sellers, thank you.

So all that is left for me to say is thank you again and see you in 2008.

u9's Win Admirals Tournament
Wow! What a tournament, I am still feeling damp now, three hours on. I dont think it could of rained anymore if it wanted too. This was one of the toughest tournaments I think we have ever entered. Some teams even had registered acadamey players. From the moment we got the programme we knew it was going to be a hard day. I could spend a week writing about the different games and how were scraped through the league stage by our superior goal difference and a late goal from Hillmorton against Caludon. We got better and better as we went through the stages. I feel slightly embarassed as I dont know who we played in the final. But we beat them so that's the main point! Every player today was fantastic, can't praise you all enough and they were, and looked, exhausted during the presentation. We beat teams we have never beaten before, Rugby Bears and Hillmorton Clarets. There were plenty of beauties today, two really stick out, Toby's save in the golden goal against Rugby Bears and Tom's goal in the golden goal against Hillmorton Clarets, even more sweet when coming from a goal behind as we mentioned. Trophy to be passed around the schools for "show and tell time"

Well done all today, fantastic entertainment.

u14's, Runners up at Admirals Tournament
Congratulations to the u14's who today finished as runners up at the Admirals tournament. It came as a complete surprise that a team who have struggled defensively this season would go through 5 group matchs, a quarter final & a semi without conceding a goal. Player of the day has to go to Jamie Huddlestone who was absolutely awesome in defense. Jamie suffered a serious knock in one of the group games but miraculously managed to get himself sorted for the quarter final. Credit also to Dale Cooper who, having been really down at the start of the tournament, showed us real bottle to work his socks off for the remainder of the tournament. Dale got his rewards when he calmly slotted home the golden goal in the semi-final to guarantee the lads a trophy - just rewards for all their hard work.

u8's Win Admirals Tournament

Group stage
v West Hadden W 2-0 Conor, Alex.
v Southam Utd W 1-0 Trezza.
v Rugby Town Owls W 3-0 Trezza 2, Morgan.
Quarter Final
v Southam Utd W 3-0 Trezza, Alex, Matty.
v St Nicholas Saints W 2-0 Trezza, Morgan.
v Rugby Town Owls W 2-0 Trezza, Morgan.

Some tremendous football from the boys today earned them their first trophy. A delayed start to the day didn't affect the boys and from the off they were right up for it breezing through the group stage with little problem. A quarter final against a team we had beaten in the group stage could have proved a banana skin but that was not the case easing past the opposition and scoring the goal of the day, one touch football involving 4 players, a joy to watch. St Nics stood between us and the final. Two more quality goals ensured the win and it was down to Rugby Town Owls to stop us. Virtually one way traffic in the final resulted in the boys lifting their first silverware. To go through the whole tournament without conceding a goal and Chas not having to make a save tells the true story of dominance. Fantastic display by everyone of the boys. Yellow and Blue army!!

u14's Tour to Center Parcs
Not much football was played but in many ways this was probably the most enjoyable tour the lads (& parents!) have been on. So many things to recall (don't think I've ever played golf before where 2 of the people were on crutches!). I've been saying all season that this would be the last tour I would organise for the lads due to the effort involved, but after last weekend perhaps not..........

"Gone Fishin!!"

Believe it or not it's nearly a year since BFC's inaugral fishing fun day. Plans are already being made for the next one. Like last year, ideas of numbers and ages are needed before booking a venue etc.

40 people last year where involved, ages ranging from 5 years old through to a 73 year old. So if you are connected to Brinklow FC in any way and would like to have a go then please register your interest (with a contact number) on our forum.

As well as a dads & lads section, again like last year there will be a seperate section for the more serious angler.

For the fun section - 'competition' lasts 2 hours. For the other section competition lasts 4 hours.

As usual, prizes and trophies are there to be won and defended.

So dust of those rods and register your interest here.

Many thanks

Chairmans Christmas Message
Once again the festive season is here and the big day is just a few days away. The Football Club has got off to a great start this season and the performances on the pitch have been first class. We are already half way through the season and I am delighted to see that all of the hard work, committment and dedication from the players and coaches is paying off with sevaral teams in the top half of their leagues. Hopefully some of these teams will go all the way and become champions.

I hope that every player, parent and supporter is enjoying the season as much as I am. At the end of the day football is the common goal for us all and I positively encourage a strong determination to win every match but at the same time showing respect to our opponenants.

So as we all gather to enjoy the festive celebrations with family and friends let none of us forget how fortunate we are to have such a great Football Club full of so many special friends.

On behalf of the committee may I wish every player, manager, coach, parent and supporter a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Car Parking at Barr Lane
We have had a further complaint regarding inconsiderate parking at Barr Lane.

Unfortunately I have been contacted by the Doctors Surgery about the parking at Barr Lane and I have been asked to meet with Dr Brown on Tuesday. I have been told by the staff at the Surgery that Dr Brown was less than happy about how cars had been parked on 2 nights last week. I realise that a lot of us are using Barr Lane at the moment but please note the following.

May I remind you of the following procedure regarding car parking at Barr Lane.

The Surgery car park must NOT be used during surgery opening hours.

When the surgery is closed we may use the car park with the following conditions;

1. No parking in the doctors spaces in case they are called out.
2. Absolutely no parking on grass verges of where the extension is being erected.
3. Parking must be in patient parking area of the car park.
4. Do not leave mud on the car park.

If Barr Lane car park is full cars must be parked on Broad Street. Cones and signs are in the hut and should be used to assist in preventing unauthorised parking. I suggest that managers ask parents to assist in stewarding.

May I also remind everyone not to block residents drives and gateways.

If we do not adhere to these requests we will lose the facility so please make sure that we do not cause anymore problems. Please inform your parents/parents/supporters and also your opposition.

A message from the Chairman
I would firstly like to take this opportunity to welcome all players, managers, parents and supporters to the 2006/07 season.

It only seems yesterday that we were celebrating last year’s achievements at our presentation day in June and suddenly we are all raring to go for the new season.

Once again I am delighted that we have a very strong committee who will provide the many different skills and experience needed to improve the Football Club and ensure that the managers and players can concentrate on playing the game. One of the main tasks for this year’s committee will be to improve our FA Charter status to become an FA Charter Development Club. There are many advantages in doing this including showing the FA that we are always looking to educate, encourage and play in the right way. Once again we shall be holding a 6 a-side tournament and presentation night, which your committee will plan throughout the season.

Brinklow FC are very lucky to have so many first class coaches who dedicate so much of their spare time at training sessions and on match days. Every manager and assistant manager now holds at least a FA Level 1 coaching award and there are two who hold the Level 2 award. I am very pleased to say that by Christmas we should have four level 2 coaches. Once again the coaches have attended these courses in their spare time, in some cases taking annual holiday. I am sure that you will all agree this shows how dedicated these people are and we should all be very proud of them.

The most valuable asset to the Football Club has to be our players, who range from the age of 5 to the over 35’s. Playing the game has to be enjoyable and despite the ups and downs of any season it is quite obvious that we have players who not only have good technical ability but big hearts and fantastic attitudes as well. I have no doubt that these players will be successful this season and I am really looking forward to seeing some silverware with yellow and blue ribbons at our presentation night.

May I wish everyone connected to the club a very enjoyable and happy season.

Congratulations to all those who today passed the FA's Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football - Here.

FA Level 1 Coaching Course

I've had confirmation from Ian Weaver of the following start times for Saturday:-

9.00am Child Protection
12.30pm First Aid

There will be no lunch break but this should mean that we will get away in time for the England game.

Ian also suggested that you all arrive at the Church Rooms, Brinklow no later then 8.45am as Tom Stack may want to start early anyway.

Ian also explained the process for the warm up sessions during the assessment on Sunday. All must have completed the 'Warm up' & 'Cool Down' sections of the session Plan sheet. 2 people will be chosen at random to run these sessions & they will be given feedback but will not be assessed.

Further dates have been announced for the FA's Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football.

Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July 2006

Brinklow FC the Future, Dwarf or Giant?

At recent committee meetings there has been much discussion about where the club should be looking to be in the future. The topic has been affectionally nicknamed "Dwarf or Giant ".

We are looking at developing our Charter status and expanding the amount of teams that we run, but is the right thing to do? Yes we need changing rooms at Barr Lane, and yes we need pitches, but what if we suddenly lose players and teams? How many people would we need to develop the club and become more professional? These are just some of the things that we have been talking about, but we need the views of the clubs membership. Therefore we are to hold an open meeting on this subject.

Christmas Message from the Chairman
The first half of the season has flown by and I have just started to settle down in my new role as Chairman. I am very excited about next year and the improvements that the Club’s Committee hope to make both in the running of the club and hopefully the facilities available to us.

The standard of football being played by all of our age groups is staggering and that is thanks to the dedication of the Club’s coaches who have raised the bar in terms of the standards that they have now set.

In the October half-term holiday and on Saturday 17th December we ran two soccer Academys, which proved to be a huge success. Hopefully these will now become a feature of the Club’s activities in the future. In February four of the Club’s coaches will take the FA Level 2 coaching course. June will see our annual 6-a-side tournament and another FA Level 1 course. Following these events the club will also hold its annual presentation night.

As the big day gets ever closer I hope that we all manage to relax and enjoy the company of family and friends. It is a time of celebration, reflection and hope for the future. May you all have a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Best wishes
Rich Farthing
