Managers Update - 27th January 2008

Coventry Alliance Division 3 - Brinklow 2 : 0 Woodland Res
26th January 2008

Report from Paul Huddlestone:-

We went into this game missing several key players; however the squad was bolstered by three reserves who all played a very good part in maintaining Brinklow’s push for promotion. The game started off slowly with Brinklow playing against a strong and unpredictable wind in the first half. It was plain to see that it was never going to be a great spectacle with Woodlands playing very deep and getting lots of men behind the ball to snuff out Brinklow’s attacks and frustrate the home side. The second half was very different however. With Woodlands resolute defenders starting to tire Brinklow managed to force the pace and create several chances which should have opened the scoring. It was a slick move down the left which saw Man of the Match Marc Woodward play to the feet of Chris Bedder who in turn slipped a weighted ball down the channel for the impressive Ali Kaey. Ali went round his man with ease and managed to float in a wonderful cross/shot which found the top corner to the delight of the home team. From then on it was pretty much plain sailing with the game being secured by a James A’Barrow curling free kick to see Brinklow maintain their Promotion/Title challenge.

Report from Martin Pulford:-

If any game stood out as top v’s bottom this was it. From the very first whistle we completely dominated this match. We were in total control in every department and it was only a matter of time before we secured the points. Woodlands had a game plan to frustrate us and hit us on the break with the long ball which really didn't threaten us, but to their credit they kept us at bay for the first half. Second half and with a few adjustments to personnel and our system we battered them, going close on many occasions before we finally scored through Ali Kaey’s inventiveness. James A'Barrow wrapped up the points with a stunning fee-kick mid-way through the second half, and for the remainder of the match we controlled the possession with some excellent keep ball football. It really was men against boys today from a very confident Brinklow side which proved once again that integration is certainly the way forward for our senior sides. Well Done all, you were a credit to Brinklow FC this afternoon, and still very much in the hunt. M.O.M - Mark Woodward, simply outstanding.
