Car parking at Barr Lane
We have had a further complaint regarding inconsiderate parking at Barr Lane.

Can we remind visiting teams that the Doctors space & the 2 disabled spaces should not be used, additionally cars should be stopped from parking on the grass verge around the surgery. Managers have been instructed to place bollards in the 3 spaces & on the verge to prevent parking but already these have been ignored. Also the local residents are getting blocked in, so please prevent cars parking across the residents drives.

The club have requested that all Brinklow players & families park their cars away from Barr Lane to ease the congestion. The Raven pub & The White Lion have kindly agreed to allow use of their car parks whilst games are on.

Tesco Sport For Schools & Clubs
I would like to let you all know that we are taking part in the Tesco Sport for Schools and Clubs scheme.

Just like Computers for Schools, you can collect vouchers at Tesco to pass onto us. We can then exchange them for a broad range of football training equipment. All of which will help us help your children to enjoy sport.

By taking part in the scheme we could even win a coaching session from Frank Lampard.

The scheme is running from the 12th September until 6th November 2005. You can help us by collecting Sport for Schools and Clubs vouchers whenever you shop at Tesco. You can collect one voucher for every £10 you spend when shopping in store at the Petrol station or even on line.

THERE WILL BE A PRIZE FOR THE PERSON WHO COLLECTS THE MOST VOUCHERS AND RETURNS THEM TO THEIR MANAGER IN AN ENVELOPE WITH THEIR NAME AND AGE GROUP ON.

SO START COLLECTING EVERYONE.

Many Thanks

Neil Huddlestone.

A message from the Chairman
I would like to say how privileged I feel to have been elected the Chairman of Brinklow Football Club. My first duty is to thank those who have stepped down from the committee. Alun Yeend, Katie Crane, Paul Huddlestone, Dave Wright and Pete Day have all made huge contributions to the club and they will be missed.

I am delighted that Tony Glasscoe has been elected my Vice-Chairman, he has been a strong Chairman and the club has achieved so much during his tenure that it would have been very difficult for me without Tony's experience. The newly elected committee is a very strong one with a wide range of skills including practical football expeirence which is crucial if we are to raise the standard of football within the club.

My aim is to to keep football to the forefront with the coaches and managers working with their teams as much as possible. We have over 250 players in the club and the work load of the coaches is getting bigger all of the time and I want the committee to provide as much support as possible.

We have a great Football Club and I hope that we can all have a great deal of fun as we go about the day to day running of it. Thank you again for giving me this great oppoutunity and I can't wait to get started.

Rich Farthing

Girls Football - Rugby Town 6-a-side competition
The girls will take part in the Rugby Town 6-a-side girls competition next Saturday (16th April). Venue is Avon Valley School. Starts 9.45 until 12.30ish. We're putting 3 teams in - a 5/6 age group (school year), 7/8, and 9/10. It's a round robin so each team should get at about 6 games each. They're also hoping to get a couple of England players to come along. If we could get people from the club to come along (even for part of the morning) it would be great.

Referee's Course
The Rugby Referee's Association are running a course for prospective referees commencing on Sunday 20th February and concluding with an examination on 19th April. The course runs on Sunday evenings typically from 7:00 to 9:00pm and costs £60 for adults or £40 for under 16's. It is relevant for Managers, Coaches and Players.

The course is very informative and results in the award of a FA Level 7 Referee qualification. The exam is in two parts - a written paper and an oral test and is not too difficult (it can't be because I passed it!). There is no obligation to officiate matches after qualification but whatever the case you have a better understanding of the Laws of the Game and their application.

The course is run by Paul Salisbury who can be contacted direct on 02476 542340 to book a place. Alternatively if you want more inside information please give me a call as I took the course last October/November.

Outcome of the EGM 20/10/2004
The committee held a emergency General meeting on Wednesday 20/10/2004 which was attended by approx 50 members. The meeting was called to discuss the letter of resignation submitted by the clubs chairman Tony Glasscoe due to constant criticism of the committee by a small number of members. At the meeting Gordon Betts gave a presentation detailing the steps forward the club has taken since the committee was formed.

The committee firmly rejected the letter & requested a vote of confidence of the committee by the members, this vote was unanimously carried.

Gordons presentation can be downloaded Here (this file is 1mb so please be patient).
